Motorcycle racing is a unique competition in which riders compete on motorbikes. This sport is often associated with speed, power, and courage. However, it could be said to have originated from the early 20th century when it became popular for motorcycle manufacturers to sponsor them with Italian riders competing in speeds of over 125 mph. This competition usually follows an annual season which begins at the start of March. It has 9 rounds that last approximately 6 weeks each before concluding at the end of September. There are usually 17 riders competing in the MotoGP championship which is broadcast on television for an audience of thousands of people every year. This sport is also known for its beautiful bikes, charismatic riders, and dramatic crashes. This competition has many important rules to keep the sport safe. The riders are governed by strict safety measures including, but not limited to, wearing protective gear, being required to wear a helmet that meets World Superbike standards. Riders are also required to have a valid license that allows them to ride motorcycles in Europe or be accompanied by a coach who can provide them with one. Many competitors have sponsors who provide the rider with funding and support to race their bikes which helps contribute to their success during the season. In addition, the bikes are also required to meet safety standards as well as having a license. However, this is not the case for MotoGP bikes since they have been modified from those used in other motorcycle races since MotoGP bikes have been equipped with electronics to prevent over revving of engines during competition. Each rider's success is responsible for making sure motorcycling remains an exciting sport. Riders are responsible for keeping competition exciting by keeping the speeds high and fair. They can do this by competing in races at well-known circuits like Monza or Barcelona which are known for their racing environments. On these tracks, riders can aim at breaking various records before the end of each season. Each year, there are different riders competing in the championship. These include: Marc Marquez, Alex Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Maverick Viñales and Andrea Dovizioso.
